Before a home remodel
EPA recommends sampling a material before a renovation that will disturb it. Name the rooms you plan to change, and we sample only the ceilings, walls and floors in those rooms.

We arrange sampling and lab analysis for Irving houses, shops, offices and apartment buildings, then give you a written survey you can act on. It shows which materials hold asbestos before a remodel or teardown turns the question into an expensive one.
A few Irving projects need a survey for the city, and others just need peace of mind. The process is identical, and it reaches Irving, Farmers Branch and Euless.

Irving's commercial remodel handout asks for a survey of the area where construction will take place. For a new building or an addition, the city's checklist asks for a survey only on additions.
An owner with more than four units needs a survey before renovating or demolishing. On a complex with several buildings, a single survey plan keeps results consistent from one building to the next.
Collection is done by a trained, accredited inspector who cuts small pieces out, seals and labels them, and sends them to a qualified laboratory. For a public building the inspector needs a DSHS license. EPA does not advise collecting samples yourself.
Testing and removal stay separate with us. The survey fixes the scope, so the crew doing the removal never decides how much material there is.
The report names each material, where it came from and what the lab found. A positive result is not an automatic removal order, and DSHS notes that a homeowner generally need not act on asbestos material that will stay undisturbed.
File it with your house papers or your permit records. Contractors, the city and later owners can all put it to use.
Sending in a sample you took yourself is not something we recommend. Results from a trained, accredited inspector and a qualified lab carry weight with contractors and the city.
No law requires one. Texas excludes single private residences from its asbestos rules. We still recommend sampling before a renovation, and so does EPA when the work will disturb suspect material.
The total depends on how many materials you sample, how large the building is, how simple the spaces are to enter and the lab fee per sample.
After the report, pick the page that fits your property. Use popcorn ceiling removal for texture, floor tile and sheet vinyl for floors, and commercial remodels for an office or shop. Our remaining services are linked from the Irving Asbestos Removal homepage.
